Wins and Losses

Wins and Losses Okay before I even get into this purpose of this blog, I am about to give a shameless plug for one of my favorite rappers Meek Mill’s new album is FIRE I mean in my opinion he has 17 hits on this album. I love an artist who grows with his music and you can honestly hear the growth. Also, if you follow Meek or heard some of his recent interviews then you can hear how he has grown.  And of course, he gives you that Meek Mill energy that gives you the instant burst energy. Okay now let’s get down to business, after listening to Meek Mill’s album all weekend it inspired me but also gave me time to reflect on my life and all the things in my life all the wins and losses and this is what lead me to this post, 1.        DON’T BE AFRAID TO CELEBRATE YOUR WIN: I know I use to think that if you celebrate your success and accomplishments then you were somehow being arrogant but as I have grown that not celebrating a win is truly a...

Do Not Resuscitate

This has been on my mind for a while so yall know that I would not be me if I didn’t express this. You see I am currently taking courses at Liberty University as I expand my own knowledge and I also get to learn more about the Lord which is a double major for me. But as I build my relationship with God, he often speaks to me. A week ago I saved a picture quote on my phone that read, “Stop watering things that were never meant to grow in your life”, funny thing is the quote was posted by Bishop TD Jakes. Now if you follow me on any of my social media pages then you would know that I post a lot of inspirational and thought provoking stuff but something about this quote just stuck to me and as I stroll down my time and I notice the turmoil of not only the world with all the violence but people and their individual lives and God spoke so clearly when he told me I had to expound upon this the meaning behind the message. I see so many people trying to breathe life into a situa...

A Moment Of Clarity

It is crazy because when I sit down to write tonight this was suppose to be going into my new book , but I decided to share it with all you because ," Why Not", I share everything with you all anyway. For the last two days I have been a state of semi solitude, I have been feeling under the weather, overwhelmed and exhausted but this week I think my body gave in because it knew that my mind truly needed the break.  So, I took two days to rejuvenate my mind and communicate with my higher being, God speaks to me but only when I am fully surrendered in prayer and silence. So, for two days we have been having an ongoing debate , yeah I said I was debating with God, I mean he created me he knows first hand how stubborn I am but only until about a couple of hours I go after talking to my pops, my moment of clarity came. I have never been afraid of the challenge, of the trying my hand at the impossible, my resume is flooded with accomplishments but my worst fear is not failu...

10 Break Up Commandments

Dependent upon the relationship, breaking up could be the easiest or the most painful thing you will have to do but regardless of the situation I have created some " Break Up Commandments" : Thou shall not drunk dial/text I know that the alcohol can have us in our emotions sometimes and have us feeling like we need to get some stuff of our chest. JUST DON'T DO IT.. resist the urge to call or text your ex especially when you are intoxicated nothing good will come from it. Thou shall not backslide There was a reason why you left and contrary to the hype there is so thing as " No strings attached" sex especially between exes because there was once love there hence "strings". I know it may seem easy or safe to release that sexual tension with someone that you already know intimately. Go to the gym, take a cold shower, watch porn anything but do not fall into that sand trap. Thou shall not vent on facebook The fact that you are w...

ASK COACH D

1. I am in a relationship but we never really go out, all he does is come to my place. We never really go out anywhere, it's been a year and I haven;'t met any of his family or his friends, I don't know what to feel? I am going to assume that you have read some of my post and you know that I am very strait forward and this coming from a place of love. Sweetheart, you are not in a relationship , you are available to person who truly seems to not have any real interest in you besides what you are offering. You know what to feel but you do not want to be alone but  if you honestly ask yourself, which one is wormst be alone or lonely because you are already lonely. I do not know this guy and do not condone male bashing, but my advice would be to have a conversation and real conversation about how you feel and where you stand in his life and from there make a decision that is best for you and your happiness.  2. Coach D, how do you get yourself out of a rut? The advice t...

This is Me... Book

"This Is Me.." is a collection of poetry the chronicles my life from childhood to adulthood. This book has truly been a life time in the making, I discovered the healing powers of writing when I was young girl being called on to provide words of peace and encouragement at family funerals and functions. I embraced the healing powers of words and writing became like therapy to me. Making the decision to publish this book was a really hard one because although I devote my life to helping others and I am now a pretty open person, this book digs deep into my issue's with insecurity,  my family relationship, my personal relationships, my faith and relationship with God. I not only pulled stories from my own life but from the lives of others that impacted me. It took a lot of prayer to get me to the point where I can truly bare myself entirely to anyone who wants to read and I am not doing for the money or fame, I am doing it because I spent so much of my life, not living...

Glass Houses

I remember when I was younger every time I would say something about someone that was nice she would say " I know you not throwing stones in your glass house", and of course because I love my grandmother I took heed to her words but I would be a hypocrite if I didn’t say that over my years that I have thrown my fair share of rocks and I have some thrown at me. But now at the ripe age of 27, I now fully understand what my grandmothers has been trying to tell me all those years ago. I may not be perfect but I have been on a journey of treating others the way I want to be treated but it really bothers when people throw stones especially when they  discriminatory, stereotypical, and just ridiculous.   How can  we as people say that one group of people is greater than another because at one point in life we have all been enslaved. Who are you that you can afford to judge others?  What makes you superior to others because if we are honest with each other then we...

Full Circle

The one thing about being medicated is that it makes your mind race but more importantly for me, it works on reverse so I am mostly knocked during the nosiness of the day and up in the silence where my mind can find solace. Few people know this about me and the few that do , truly don't know all the details and honestly until now I was content with not sharing mainly because I was afraid and I have been living in fear for the last 10 years, not afraid of dying because that day will come but afraid of not living, or leaving someone to mourn for me, some child, my child to hurt like I've hurt.  You see a little over 10 years ago I had a really lethal asthma attack, I never told anyone this but I looked up my medical record for that night and I my heart had stopped pumping and I was not breathing for one minute and forty five seconds, for about the time it'll take you to reread that statement I has dead. Then I was revived and rushed into the trauma room where the real fight f...

Goin in

I really have been trying to hold my tongue but I wouldn't be me if I didn't bring things to the forefront of people's mind. You see I understand that I live my life by a different code than most and I truly thank GOD for blessing me with parents like Iris Gaines and Vinson Cammack because they instilled me the value of hard work and that my worth can't be measured in currency  because I am PRICELESS.  If you know me then you know that I have been working within the non profit  community for about ten years now and I have been everything from a HIV/AIDS peer educatator to Director of my own non profit "DESTINED TO CREATE PEACE SERVICES". I had accomplished more and lost more by the age of eightteen than most people will in a life time. But I am still standing, so it baffles me when I hear  and read status updates of young people with no aspirations, no ambiton and even worse older people who do not care about the youth.  Truly, what is the world...

Forever Strong

Having moment of weakness or uncertainty does not make you weak or less of an believer. It just makes you human. Sometimes I feel like my soul, my essence were drafted in this battle between the young lady I am and the grown woman I want to be. Don't get me twisted I appreciate all that I have, all that I have accomplished and even the mistakes that I have made. I thought for awhile I thought I was truly happy but then I realize in order to be happy I had to have something happenings and that's when the battle ensued. About two months ago I got sick and I thought it was just another asthma episode but it was so much more, I was drowned in a sea of medical diagnosis and medications that I could  pronounce only because I studied medical books as a child. I believe that is when the battle began when I was face to face with my own mortality (no worries I have nothing fatal) but it made me realize that my life was missing something. So, I set out on the mission for a 360 change...

Unbreak My Heart

No one can  prepare you for heart break and no matter how hard you try to fight it or find a work around when your heart breaks it hurts. When your heart breaks it also stirs up insecurities that you have about yourself, past painful relationships and even loneliness. Some of us want to believe that its not us its their lost and some of us believe that we are the reason for the pain. But truthfully, you never know what it was that caused you and that person to separate. But you can allow that pain to stop you from living. You may wonder what makes me an authority on broken hearts and truthfully I am not. But I have had my heart broken recently and I felt inferior, I felt ashamed, lonely, confused and hurt. I mean a part of me even wanted to even try and get him back and even went as far as having sex with him. But sex ain't love but then I saw him the real him. Most time when we are in love we see the person we want but not who that person really is. So, the true test of love is w...

The Rebirth

Most people even those who are closest to me don’t know that I almost died before my eighteenth birthday actually it was about a week before spring break of my senior year. I don’t talk about it much but it was the event that I believed shaped my adult hood and not totally in a good way. Since, that day I have lived with constant nightmares of that night, that week, that entire two years of my life afterwards. So, in order to truly move pass it , if you don’t mind I have to take you through it, I remember that day vividly I had a cold but I went through an entire day at school and although I felt sluggish it was business as usual. I remember coming home hanging with my siblings and my father, then I went upstairs to my room. I got sicker and it felt like a regular asthma attack and then I made my way downstairs and it got worse. The last things I remember from that night, I went down stairs to get my dad and I remember fighting for air, the last thing I said before I passed out was...
